Started by a Marine who came home
American Rooter & Drain was built by a United States Marine. From 2005 to 2009 our founder served as a Corporal, deploying to Iraq alongside a brotherhood that taught him one thing above all else: you take care of the person next to you.
He came home to the Treasure Valley and poured that code into a plumbing company: show up, work hard, tell the truth, and treat the family in front of you like your own.
Fighting in Iraq engrained in me that no matter where you are, you fight for the person next to you. It really is about the people next to you. It's the same in business: I want to make the phone ring so everyone here can provide for their families.

Mason was called by my parents to service the HVAC & a broken water pipe! As always he was helpful, very professional, & came quickly! He actually came out a few weeks ago to service my HVAC & its running like a champ still! Cant say enough good things about this company and the guys that put in the work!
These three young men, Mason, Kyle, and Koda were great workers and very persistent until they finished the job. I would definitely recommend them and your company!
Awesome guys. They replaced the water heater. Thx James & Reed
Mason and Dante They did excellent service and explained everything to me.
Mason & Dante came up and got my AC working within just 1hr. Even though the unit was old they got it going and cooling like new.

Straight answersBefore you call
QHow much do you charge per hour?
We do not charge by the hour. You get a flat rate for the job, quoted and approved before any work starts, so the number cannot climb while someone is under your sink. Hourly billing is where most of the "am I being overcharged" worry in this trade comes from, and flat-rate pricing removes it rather than asking you to trust us on it.
QHow do I know I am not being overcharged?
You see the price before we start, not after we finish, and nothing additional happens without you approving it first. If a technician finds something bigger mid-job, work stops and you get options with pricing. You are also free to take that written quote and get a second opinion — we would rather lose a job than have you feel cornered into one.
QWhat should I do before calling a plumber?
If water is actively running where it should not be, shut off the supply — the fixture stop under the sink or toilet, or the main if you cannot reach it. Beyond that, do not spend long troubleshooting. Note what you saw, when it started, and which fixtures are affected; that is genuinely useful to the technician and takes thirty seconds.
QShould I try Drano or a store-bought drain cleaner first?
Usually not, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a call-out. Caustic cleaners can damage older pipes, they rarely clear a real blockage in a main line, and any leftover chemical becomes a hazard for whoever opens the line next. If a single fixture is slow, a plunger or a simple drain snake is a fair first try. If more than one fixture is backing up, that points at the main line and the store product will not touch it.
QWhat are the signs of a good plumber?
A licence number you can look up, proof of insurance, a written price before the work rather than after, and a willingness to show you what is actually wrong. Our Idaho and Oregon contractor and plumbing licence numbers are published on this site so you can verify them, and our technicians are background-checked.
QHow fast can someone actually get here?
Emergencies are guaranteed same-day — a technician at your door, not just a returned phone call. Non-emergency work is same day in most cases, and we will tell you honestly when it is not, because true emergencies do bump lower-priority appointments. A real person answers the phone 24/7, including nights, weekends and holidays.
